I can’t keep my pet…
The Belleville Area Humane Society accepts both animals surrendered by their owners and from St. Clair County Animal Services.
If you would like the Belleville Area Humane Society to help you rehome your pet, you will need to call 618-235-3712 to have your cat or dog added to our waitlist. BAHS is committed to helping St. Clair County Animal Services go no-kill by 2021. Animals from St. Clair County Animal Services will be taken before animal’s surrendered by their owners.
- We are a limited admission shelter, which means we never euthanize for space. This also means that we can not take every animal. We need to do both a medical and behavioral assessment before we can accept an animal for admission.
- Having your animal spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations will help us get your animal into the shelter faster
- Being on our waitlist does not guarantee that your animal will be admitted to the shelter.
Rehome by Adopt-a-Pet and the Petco Foundation
You can also use Rehome, a program supported by the Petco Foundation, to find an adopter for your animal. It’s easy and gives you complete control over who adopts your pet!
- Go to: https://rehome.adoptapet.com
- Create a pet profile
- Review applications
- Meet adopters
- Finalize adoption
The Rehome team will help you through the entire process, including providing adoption paperwork and allowing adopters to pay the adoption fee online. The adoption fee goes to the rescue or animal shelter of your choice, so don’t forget to mention BAHS! Call 618-235-3712 with any questions
